Teatr Cogitatur's "Femina" is a metaphor for the human evolution
and portrays the thrilling and picturesque history of ordinary women.
The scenes are inspired by some of the works of Austrian and German impressionist
artists, and rocked by musical excerpts from Vivaldi, Garbarek, Goldenthal,
Kreisler and Future Sound of London. The play features some dance influences
and strong body movements. Elements such as water, fire and smoke are
used in this performance, which has only two minutes of spoken text, taken
from the poem "Ash-Wednesday" by T.S.Elliot.
Created in 1981, Cogitatur practices an experimental, physical and visual
form of theater. The work presented by the group has become a reference
for Poland's independent contemporary theater. Its performances, of great
visual and poetic appeal, bear a peculiar and alternative character.
